Ten years ago, when in great need of physical healing and mental uplift, I heard of Christian Science through a friend. When I inquired of him about it, he directed me to a practitioner. I had no idea what a practitioner was, but immediately telephoned asking permission to call. This was kindly given; and it is with sincere gratitude I say that from that interview my whole outlook on life was changed. I am very grateful that from my first glimpse of Christian Science I was convinced it was the truth, and that my deep sense of despair and discouragement was changed to a sense of hope and confidence. Even though since then I have often thought, spoken, and acted as I should not, still from that first interview Christian Science has been the only thing I have looked to for physical healing and for moral and spiritual regeneration.

From the little my friend told me I gathered that Christian Science had to do with thinking; and my first statement to the practitioner when I called was that I believed I had worried myself sick, and wondered if she could help me. She talked with me for some little time, and then gave me a Christian Science treatment. With this first treatment I received an instantaneous and permanent healing of an eye trouble for which I had been wearing glasses for years. I had not spoken about my eyes, nor had I worn glasses when I called; for I had reasoned that if Christian Science was Science, and was going to help me at all, it should help me in every way, and that I would receive benefit not alone for the one thing for which I was asking help. I also received help for the specific trouble for which I asked help, but this healing was slow. However, in the meantime I was benefited in so many ways, and received so many other physical healings, that I continued treatments for about a year. Since then I have had numerous healings in Christian Science. I have been healed twice of the grippe, and have had warts removed from my hands.

I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts; for the privilege of spending a week at the Christian Science sanatorium; for having been an usher in a branch church; and in fact for all the good I have received since being interested in Christian Science. I am most grateful, however, for Mrs. Eddy's discovery, and for her wonderful gift of this discovery to the world, in words that all may understand and apply, so that we can combat and overcome the workings of evil or animal magnetism; for it is through this understanding and the application of it that I am now receiving my greatest blessings, in better physical health, sounder morals, and more equanimity of though and action.
