"He that overcometh"

"He that overcometh shall inherit all things." This is the comforting assurance given to men by John, the beloved disciple, in his Revelation of Jesus Christ.

It is so often thought that men cannot enjoy their inheritance of good until they have passed away from present earthly experiences to a heaven afar off, where God reigns, and that while they are sojourning here they must not expect to be relieved from the sin, sorrow, and sickness which seem such a part of material existence. Yet this wonderful vision which came to John was revealed to him while he was still on this earth, a prisoner on the Isle of Patmos; and we can see how this experience gave him an opportunity to ponder all the sayings of his beloved Master, and so to gain the inspiration which brought about the revelation of the spiritual truth that Jesus had taught.

Although a prisoner on a lonely island, John was yet free to realize his true heritage. This same freedom is ours to-day, even when we are seemingly in bondage to fleshly or mortal beliefs. As the sons of God our inheritance is sure. It is not alone a future experience; for it is John again who says, "Now are we the sons of God." The Bible is rich in promises that God is "a very present help" when we turn to Him; for He is our Father. Our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, has also assured us in Christian Science that we may all know God, from the least to the greatest, and know Him as the God of love.
