I know with absolute certainty that I owe to Christian Science...

I know with absolute certainty that I owe to Christian Science my safe-keeping while in the firing line during the war days and my return home from France. I was in a hospital after being gassed, and the doctors classified me as among those whom they thought to have a very remote chance of recovery. One day I learned that the hospital authorities deemed it necessary to inclose the entire trunk of my body in a plaster cast. I had endeavored to use my knowledge of Christian Science, but at once sent a cablegram home asking a practitioner for help. Within two or three days I applied for a discharge from the hospital, and returned to my post and duty. Within ten days Christian Science had brought about a complete cure. I continued in France for about three months more before returning home.

I am very glad to express acknowledgment of this debt of gratitude which I owe to Christian Science.
