The effect of Christian Science is to eliminate mysticism, or any sense of mystery, by bringing the light of spiritual understanding to the Scriptures, thus enabling the student to realize the spiritual or real import of the great truths contained therein. By utilizing his understanding he proves by his works, in healing sickness as well as sin, that God, the divine Principle of all being, is no longer a mystery, but can be known here and now, and that His laws can be discerned and applied in daily human experience. It must be obvious from what has been said that Christian Scientists do not spend their time delving into mysteries; they are convinced that the truth of being has been given to them and to all mankind in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Mystery disappears in the light of demonstration, and demonstration is a conspicuous feature in Christian Science. On page 80 of the above-named textbook Mrs. Eddy writes, "Science dispels mystery and explains extraordinary phenomena; but Science never removes phenomena from the domain of reason into the realm of mysticism."
