Your contributor in "News and Views" of recent date infers that Christian Scientists have unscientific ideas on health measures. Mrs. Eddy studied the Bible and discovered the rules of healing practiced by Christ Jesus. Then she classified this knowledge and made it "available in work, life, or the search for truth." (From Webster's definition of science.) Is it not safe to accept Christ Jesus' standard of health measures? He had a perfect understanding of God's law. He said, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also." Christian Scientists comply with this direct command of Christ Jesus. Mrs. Eddy says: "I believe in obeying the laws of the land. I practise and teach this obedience, since justice is the moral signification of law" (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 220). Christ Jesus said, "Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's." Thus Christian Scientists are taught to be law-abiding citizens.
