In 1893 I first heard of Christian Science, and about a year afterward I had a healing. From then until January, 1915, I went along and thought very little about Christian Science until our son, almost fifteen years of age, passed on. It is impossible to write or express what my wife and I experienced; but with the help of loving practitioners and other Christian Scientists we were led to understand what God is and how He cares for His people.
Later my wife passed on, and this affected me beyond telling; but with the kind efforts of many Christian Science friends and the study of the works of our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and all the other articles on Christian Science, I was able to return to business in less than two weeks. Though I have had a great number of bad attacks of grief and loneliness, yet through my reading of the Bible and Christian Science literature and the many good words spoken to me by friends I have been led to know that God is kind, and our only and ever present help in trouble.
I have also been healed of many habits, such as smoking, drinking, using profane language, and believing and saying there was no God. I had doctored over twenty years for stomach trouble. Two of the physicians, whom I went to thank for trying so hard to help me, said they were glad I had found something that had healed me.
