It is now three and a half years since I first learned of Christian Science, and I am grateful to God for the many benefits which have come to me and to my household through the works and writings of Mary Baker Eddy, the author of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and the Founder of the Christian Science church and its many activities.
I was first attracted to Christian Science through the immediate overcoming of a difficulty that my little boy, then an infant, had with his food. A friend who was interested in Christian Science was present one day while he was taking his bottle. She sat quietly by, declaring the truth, and never afterward was there the least trouble; and the wee chap soon improved. This kind friend lent my wife a copy of the Christian Science textbook, and we read it with great interest. For many years prior to this I had been suffering from chronic headaches, for which I had tried many remedies, including an operation on the nose, as I had difficulty in breathing through my nostrils, and this was supposed to be the cause of the trouble. I had not been reading Science and Health many days before I was completely cured; and I am most grateful to say I have never had a return of this complaint, which for years had made me miserable.
In the home and in the bringing up of our two children the improved understanding of God and His creation has been of inestimable value. There have been trials to overcome, but whenever the seeming difficulty has been promptly and faithfully opposed with the truth the trouble has vanished into its nothingness, and a valuable lesson has been learned. Within the space of eight months my two children have shown symptoms of measles, chicken pox, and scarlet fever, but have hardly known a day's sickness with any one of them. I am safe in saying they have always come out of the experience stronger physically; and never have they tasted a drop of medicine.
