Twelve years ago I was healed of compound astigmatism, for the correction of which glasses had been worn eleven years, by reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. After reading the textbook studiously for two weeks I laid aside the glasses, and nine months later they were entirely discarded.
Through the study of Christian Science the Bible has become my constant help, whereas before I could not grasp its teachings at all. Many physical healings have come to me, for which I am grateful; but I am far more grateful for the spiritual healings and blessings. Among the many blessings which Science has unfolded to me are the privileges of membership in The Mother Church and in a society, class instruction, and the ability to help others along the pathway from sense to Soul. Our Leader's words on page 165 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" voice exactly what I want to say: "As an active portion of one stupendous whole, goodness identifies man with universal good. Thus may each member of this church rise above the oft-repeated inquiry, What am I? to the scientific response: I am able to impart truth, health, and happiness, and this is my rock of salvation and my reason for existing."
(Miss) Louise Screven Burton, Leesburg, Florida.
