I had at one time read the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, hoping that it would convince me that I could be healed; but I was not healed, so I drifted along rather aimlessly with no hope of ever being perfectly well. Then other things than illness came into my life which made it seem that I could not bear to live any longer; and yet I knew I must go on for the sake of my children. Hoping it would help me to bear this trouble more patiently, I began reading Science and Health again.

When Christian Science found me I was indeed miserable. I had undergone many operations and taken much medicine, and yet was never well. I suffered from organic troubles, extreme nervousness, sties, frequent sick headaches, constipation, indigestion, and insomnia. Some of these diseases I had had for so long that they seemed a part of me, and I had been almost an invalid for nearly ten years. One doctor told my husband that to be entirely well I would have to be "made over; but that is not in man's power, only God can do that."

I was healed in one treatment of a severe case of influenza; and this one healing was proof enough to me that Christian Science could do anything. In less than a month, with no conscious effort on my part, but simply through reading and study, I was freed from most of the above-mentioned diseases, and had discarded glasses that I had been obliged to wear for sewing and reading for about fourteen years. Since then the healings have been so many that I could not begin to tell of them all. My children have been healed of contagious diseases instantaneously, proving that these do not have to "run their course," as we had previously thought.
