In "Letters to The Times" of recent date a correspondent quotes from the Bible, and from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, endeavoring to prove that Christian Science contradicts the Bible. Christian Science does not contradict the Bible; its teachings are based entirely upon the Bible; and its healing is done according to the direct command of Christ Jesus, "Heal the sick." There is a marked diversity of opinion among Bible students concerning the true meaning of many passages in the Bible. Likewise, some people have found it difficult to understand Science and Health. This misunderstanding arises largely from failure on the part of the student to grasp the difference between the absolutely true statements regarding God and the real spiritual man and the statements concerning mankind and human conditions. When this distinction is understood the correctness of the logic of the Bible and Science and Health is seen, and it is found that they are not contradictory.
