Healing as wrought in Christian Science is quite distinct from all forms of faith healing which are based upon a blind hope or belief. Christian Science teaching and practice are based entirely upon the operation of spiritual law, an understanding of which was gained sufficiently by Mrs. Eddy through her study of the Scriptures and devout obedience to their teaching, to enable her to heal all manner of sickness, disease, and sinful habits. Her explanation of this law is set forth in her writings, more particularly in the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." The study of this book in connection with the Bible has healed many cases of illness without assistance from other sources. "The understanding of Truth gives full faith in Truth," declares Mrs. Eddy (ibid., p. 286); but this kind of faith is the very opposite of blind belief.
