I wish to express through the Christian Science Sentinel...
I wish to express through the Christian Science Sentinel my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me and what it means to me. My experience extends over a period of thirty-eight years. I accepted Christian Science on reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I at once began to apply what it teaches in my living, and in my work and dealings as I went about. I have striven all these years to prove that its teachings are real and true.
The first healing I experienced was that of profanity. This was soon followed by the healing of the liquor habit, also of the tobacco, tea, and coffee habits, with no special treatment. The healing came about through the honest study of Science and Health. It is needless to say I am truly grateful to God for His goodness to me, revealed by the teachings of Mrs. Eddy. During these years I have had the experiences common to mortals as a result of a willful and ill-tempered disposition and all that goes with it; and I am truly grateful for deliverance from these evils.
How grateful I am, as I ought to be, that I have for years been free from the petty ailments which formerly made life miserable and unfitted me for work! For more than a quarter of a century it has always been possible for me to be at my post, willing to work; and I do work joyously, for which I am grateful, for it was not always so. For all this I am truly grateful; and I am striving to express my gratitude in my work. But I am most grateful for the spiritual understanding that is teaching me to think and act in a Christian Science manner in my dealings with others.
