It is with a heart filled with gratitude for Christian Science that this testimony of its wonderful healing power is written. For three years I had suffered intermittently from extreme paroxysms of abdominal pain; and the doctors never seemed able to determine the cause of them. With every attack some different treatment was used, but without any success; and finally I became thoroughly disheartened and discouraged.

During this time Christian Science was recommended to me by a member of the family who had had several healings; and she urged me to try it. After losing all faith in medicine I was ready to obey the "still small voice" of Truth, when it told me plainly that I must leave my position in the East and all my home relations and go to California, where I should be free to seek the truth. My health improved from the moment my decision was made. The earnest study of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was commenced with much interest. About a month after I had begun to study this textbook, when a return of the old trouble presented itself, I went to a Christian Science practitioner for my first treatment. An instantaneous healing took place; and there have never been any symptoms of the trouble since. That was over five years ago.

Through the constant study of Christian Science and the faithful application of its rules, many healings have blessed me. Chronic tonsillitis had held me in bondage all my life. This condition was permanently healed. Glasses have been discarded entirely; whereas before, I could not read or sew without them. An abscess in one ear was healed with one treatment. For the long, slower healing of self-will, false pride, resentment, and a sense of limitation I am profoundly grateful. In their places are growing the fruits of Spirit,— "love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance;" and, as Paul tells us, "against such there is no law."
