For over eighteen years I was suffering from deafness

For over eighteen years I was suffering from deafness. During these years I was under the care of physicians and specialists, who gave little relief and told me there was no cure for the ailment; that the eardrums were gradually being destroyed, and that eventually I would be totally deaf. I was about to lose my position on account of being unable to converse with people.

Thinking I had tried every cure, I became very much discouraged, and made the remark to my wife that I had tried everything without relief and was only getting worse. She answered: "I have been waiting for this opportunity. You have tried many things, but not Christian Science. Why not try it?" I consented, with the result that within a year, through earnest, faithful study of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I was completely healed. The fear of death was overcome, and in its place came an understanding of God as Life eternal. The healing was accomplished without the aid of Christian Science practioners. This was some twelve years ago, and I have been able to hear perfectly ever since.

Soon after this healing in Christian Science I was asked to go back to a physician's office and learn if the diagnosis was correct in regard to my eardrums; but I refused, for I could hear perfectly, and was satisfied and happy. I was able to keep my position; in fact, with the sense of hearing restored and the aid of a continued growth of understanding in Christian Science I have achieved a remarkable success in business.
