Christian Science came to me as the result of a desire for a religion that would satisfy. I was seeking spiritual food; seeking for a God who is Love, who is ever present. All of this I found in Christian Science,—and infinitely more. After a kind friend had explained to me that not only was Christian Science the religion which Jesus taught and practiced while on earth, but that it would enable us to do the same things to-day in healing our diseases and meeting our every need as it did then, I decided to take up the study of it. I therefore purchased "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

Very soon after I began the study of Christian Science I had occasion to use it and see how perfectly it does heal. Our son, then about twelve years of age, whom two doctors had told us had chronic appendicitis, began to manifest great pain. As I was young in Science, I called a doctor. Before he could come to us, he had to make another call, saying he would come in about an hour. My first thought was to call another doctor; then the thought came, Why not try Christian Science? I knew nothing about practitioners, but thought I might find something in Science and Health that would show me what to do. I turned to the chapter on Prayer, and became so interested that I forgot the child, whom I had put to bed; in fact, I forgot everything in the joy of finding what I had been seeking all my life. When I had read perhaps for half an hour, I thought of the child, and went into the room to find him asleep. When he awoke, the pain had all gone.

On the arrival of the doctor I told him the child was all right; but he insisted on making an examination. After doing so, he said it had been a very bad attack of appendicitis. About three weeks later this boy was examined by a specialist, who said the appendix was perfectly normal. That was almost eleven years ago, and there has been no return of the trouble.
