I was in poor health for a number of years, suffering from many different ailments, among them felons and boils. After being treated by many doctors and taking many material remedies, I found myself very low, with what the doctor said was a tubercular abscess under my left arm, five inches in diameter. After this one was operated on, another one formed on my neck. The doctors could give me no hope, telling my son that others would form and that I could survive only two or three more.
I had grown gradually weaker, and was financially helpless as the result of the illness. It was at this time I took up the study of Christian Science, having been asked many times why I did not do so. After three treatments in Christian Science, the second and smaller abscess disappeared. The first one caused me no more suffering, just the inconvenience of having it dressed, which continued about three months. At this time I was very thin, weighing less than one hundred pounds. Treatments were continued for about four months. The healing was not instantaneous, but was gradual. As I grew stronger I began to attend the church services. This was five years ago, and I have not taken a dose of medicine or consulted a physician since. Prior to this time I was continually taking medicine. Now I am in perfect health, weighing more than ever before, and work hard all the time.
For all these blessings I am very grateful to God for giving us this truth through the discovery of Christian Science by Mary Baker Eddy.
