Jesus of Nazareth used no drugs, nor did he recommend their use to his followers. He healed every known disease by the power of prayer. His understanding of God enabled him to perform these mighty works; and to-day Christian Science is teaching its followers to do likewise. Mary Baker Eddy was well versed in medical theories. In her early experiments in homeopathy she healed with attenuations where allopathic doses had failed. These tests helped her in her search for the divine remedy for all human ills. Mrs. Eddy teaches that healing the sick is but a small part of the glorious mission of Christian Science, but that it is a necessary step in the fulfillment of the objective of universal salvation from all sin. Because of her love for humanity, she gave her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," to the world; and the statements of Truth contained therein have stood the tests of time.

Christian Scientists have no quarrel with those of opposite beliefs in theology or medicine. May it not be said that a study of pages 142 to 164, inclusive, in Science and Health should convince any physician that to challenge statements of Truth with material hypotheses is as futile as for ignorance to challenge wisdom, or for darkness to combat light? On page 151 of Science and Health will be found the following passage, which reveals Mrs. Eddy's loving attitude toward those of differing opinions: "Great respect is due the motives and philanthropy of the higher class of physicians. We know that if they understood the Science of Mind-healing, and were in possession of the enlarged power it confers to benefit the race physically and spiritually, they would rejoice with us."
