Three years ago, because of the reorganization of the firm by which I was employed, it was necessary to give up my position. This created a great sense of fear, for it occurred at a time when positions were very scarce. I took up the mental work in Christian Science, and help was lovingly given by a practitioner. Different human footsteps were taken in search of a position; I applied at different agencies, and made my need known to friends. The way opened to procure substitute positions which led finally to a permanent one.

This period of harmony was, however, of short duration. Error appeared again in the guise of lack, loneliness, and discontent, followed by a severe attack of nervous prostration. In talking to a practitioner I was awakened to the realization that this discordant condition came through wrong thinking. Selfishness had governed my thoughts, and every desire seemed to be for the betterment of self only. Again turning my thought to God, and declaring what Mrs. Eddy tells us in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 113), that "divine Love is our hope, strength, and shield," I was freed from this discordant condition and all others were overcome; and I am thoroughly enjoying health and strength. To-day I can rejoice because of this experience. It was just a testing time, and an opportunity to take my stand on the side of Truth. It proved to me that however thick the mist of error seems to be, it cannot hide Christian Science and its fruitage.

For these blessings and for the spiritual gain that has been mine through the study and application of Christian Science, I am grateful to God, to Mrs. Eddy, and to the loving practitioner,—(Miss) Mildred S. Travis, East Orange, New Jersey.
