Man's Existence Harmonious

Mrs. Eddy says in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 217), "The loss of man's identity through the understanding which Science confers is impossible; and the notion of such a possibility is more absurd than to conclude that individual musical tones are lost in the origin of harmony."

Does the incorrect playing or singing of musical notes in the least degree affect the true idea of the notes themselves, or the laws govering harmony? Not at all. We know that however poorly an individual may play or sing, it is his or her wrong concept or lack of understanding of music which produces discord. Nothing but harmony is included in the law of music; therefore, true notes can never for a moment be discordant, for they are a part of harmony. In other words, each note is an individual idea in harmony, and it taken them all to make up the perfect whole. Not one can ever be lost or marred; what is called a false note is nothing but a false concept.

So it is with man. The true man, created in God's image and likeness, is spiritual idea, which exists forever in Mind. Man expresses perfect harmony; and he can never express anything else, because, as idea, he is permanent in divine consciousness. He has no power to separate himself from his governing divine Principle; in God he lives, moves, and has his being.
