For two years I have studied diligently the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and other writings by Mary Baker Eddy. I had a demonstration over the chewing of tobacco a few days after starting to read the textbook. I had had the habit for twelve years. I also had a demonstration over a severe pain in my side, and another over a bad tooth, through reading the textbook; but never until the following experience did I feel impelled to give a testimony.

While working on a steel tank I was pulling a ladder up from the ground when it touched an electric wire overhead that I had not noticed was there. I was instantly rendered unconscious, and after falling to the ground was carried away as dead. I was up the next morning, and a few days later learned that the wire I had touched was carrying ten thousand five hundred volts of electricity; also that some of the steps of the steel ladder that I was holding in my hands at the time of the accident had been fused off by the electricity. Except for a few burns on my hands there was no trace of the accident left; for which I give Christian Science all credit.
