I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. Some years ago, I was awakened one morning by a bright light. I realized at once that the house was on fire. Running into a long narrow hall, I could not see my way to the stairs because of the smoke and heat. I had been a student of Christian Science only a short time, but realized that the time had come to demonstrate what I knew of the truth. I declared that God was my Life; and this declaration gave me strength to grope around. Finally I reached the head of the staircase and fell forward. I was caught by friends who were trying to reach me, but could not come farther because of the flames. As my hands were badly burned, a Christian Science practitioner was called; and in a short time the pain ceased. In less than two days I was able to use my hands, and in a week they were perfectly healed. There were no scars. My face was not burned, although the hair on one side of my head was burned away.

I am especially grateful for the spiritual understanding of the Bible that has come to me through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
