Christian Science asserts and maintains the divinity of the Christ, but it understands, as Jesus himself said, that the Christ is not God, but the Son of God. Christian Science also bases its teaching upon the life and death of our Lord. His blood, as mere blood, was not more efficacious to save mankind in his death than in his life. Whatever may be said to the contrary, this is admitted by the Christian churches; otherwise Christ Jesus as "The Way" would be an impossibility. In this the churches are but following Paul, who, in his epistle to the Romans, says, "For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life."
