Among the Churches

Current Notes

SAN BERNARDINO, CALIF. (First Church).—The new edifice of First Church of Christ, Scientist, has just been dedicated. The beginning of the history of this church dates back to the year 1890, when about fifteen persons, having become interested in Christian Science because of healing, began holding services in a private residence. In 1904 a fifty-nine foot frontage of the present church property was purchased. This property had on it an old building, formerly used for church purposes, which was used by the Christian Scientists for services. Later, sixty-five feet additional frontage was purchased; and in 1916 ground was broken for the erection of the present edifice. The church stands as an expression of love and gratitude, from many loving hearts, to God and to the Leader of the Christian Science movement, Mary Baker Eddy.—San Bernardino Daily Sun.
