In the early part of 1918 I was rejected by the army authorities as being totally unfit for service. I had heart trouble; was subject to influenza, hay fever, headaches; and was very nervous. I was afraid to be alone, and had a great dread of being in the dark. I was a very heavy smoker, as I thought smoking was good for the nerves. The healing of these conditions has been accomplished through the study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I shall be able to express my gratitude best by becoming a true and loyal Christian Scientist. There never was a time when I did not believe in God, but the time has come for me to say that through the study of the Bible, with the aid of the textbook, I am learning to know God. I was healed of influenza in its worst form before I had read through the chapter on Prayer; and before I had finished the book the habit of smoking left me, a habit which I had tried to give up but never could. All the other erroneous conditions have since disappeared.

I am in better health to-day than I have ever been, because I have been improved morally and spiritually. I thank God that through this improvement I have with His help been also to help others, which is the greatest joy of all. I have now reached the place of understanding where I can truly say and know that "with God all things are possible." I was healed of muscular rheumatism during the fall of 1921 through reliance on divine Principle.

Christian Science has also been of great benefit to members of my family and to relatives. Since 1918 we have not had the service of any doctor. Every ill that has come up has been healed by the application of Christian Science. The realizing of our Leader's statement, "Christian Science reveals God, not as the author of sin, sickness, and death, but as divine Principle, Supreme Being, Mind, exempt from all evil" (Science and Health, p. 127), has been a sure help from the very beginning of my study.
