I want joyfully to express my gratitude for what Christian Science is doing for the whole world. The benefits I have received through the study and application of the law of God, good, as we are taught in the Bible and our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, are so numerous I could not recount them. The first healing one receives in Christian Science always seems to be the opening of the door after the key is found; and afterward the light pours in through the open door, dispelling the doubts and fears.

From infancy I had always been considered delicate; and in later years, when suffering seemed unbearable and many physicians, who were kind and conscientious, informed me there was no hope except through another operation, things looked very dark indeed. The first operation was considered successful, as everything was removed except the suffering! The thought of another one seemed to hold so little hope that an earnest prayer went forth for help. It came. A friend whom we had not seen for three years called and told of how he had been healed of nervous indigestion by a Christian Science practitioner two years before. He said the healing had been permanent, and added, "You can't lose anything by trying it." I could not sleep that night. I could not wait, it seemed, for morning to come, when I could seek the help of a Christian Science practitioner. This help was patiently and lovingly given; and at the end of four months I was completely healed. During this time I was healed of many things which I did not mention to the practitioner,—the wearing of glasses, nervous headaches, abscesses of the frontal sinus, and heart trouble. For weeks my gaze was so fixed upon looking for proofs of the one thing I had asked help for that all of these other blessings were unnoticed. How I complained that the healing was not instantaneous; and how grateful I am now that it was not, for I see that at that time I needed this experience in order to learn how to work out my own salvation, as the Bible tells us! When I stopped looking for material evidence I saw God as ever present, operating in and through my consciousness; and that is the only operation we ever need.

I am so grateful for the patient workers in our Father's vineyard; for our dear Leader, who through her purity discovered that religion which is a practical everyday Science; and for the Christ-idea, which we see being made manifest.
