That the Christ is divine is not only believed by the Christian Scientist; but to him this is demonstrable truth, and is constantly being proved to be true through Christianly scientific healing. Christian Science does not teach that Jesus was God. Neither did Jesus. Nor do the Scriptures. In speaking to the Jews on this very point Christ Jesus spoke of himself as the Son of God. When Christianity accepts this fact much confusion of thought now apparent in doctrines and preachments will pass away, and the way be opened up for a better understanding of the Science of Christianity. On page 332 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," under the marginal heading, "The Son of God," Mrs. Eddy writes: "Jesus was born of Mary. Christ is the true idea voicing good, the divine message from God to men speaking to the human consciousness. The Christ is incorporeal, spiritual,—yea, the divine image and likeness, dispelling the illusions of the senses; the Way, the Truth, and the Life, healing the sick and casting out evils, destroying sin, disease, and death. As Paul says: 'There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.' The corporeal man Jesus was human." Christian Scientists know, through the spiritual healing of disease, that Christ, Truth, is, has been, and always will be divine; and we are profoundly grateful for this wonderful revelation.
