Christian Science has nothing in common with what is...

El Paso Herald

Christian Science has nothing in common with what is called new-thought, theosophy, and applied psychology, and it is a mistake so to class them. On page 129 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy says, "Animal magnetism, hypnotism, spiritualism, theosophy, agnosticism, pantheism, and infidelity are antagonistic to true being and fatal to its demonstration." Any system that regards matter as real, as being created by God, is out of harmony with Christian Science.

Christian Science exemplifies the life, teaching, and practices of Jesus the Christ, who set at naught every claim of material law, knowing such claims to be false. Christian Science is the teaching of Jesus; and the teaching of Jesus is Christianity, which, rightly understood, overcomes and destroys every claim of matter or material law. Christian Science is based upon Spirit alone; other systems recognize Spirit and matter. Spirit and matter are antagonistic: they have no point of approach to each other. "Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal" (Science and Health, p. 468). In Christian Science there is no divided house: "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation" (Science and Health, p. 468). In "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 111) Mrs. Eddy refers to certain false beliefs as "the belief in anti-Christ: that somebody in the flesh is the son of God, or is another Christ." Christian Science repudiates all such beliefs, and instead of being anti-Christ, is itself the Comforter. One who earnestly follows its teachings can prove this for himself.
