With a desire to express my gratitude for Christian Science...
With a desire to express my gratitude for Christian Science, and with the thought of helping others to be free from physical ills and inharmony of every kind, I take advantage of the opportunity to send in my testimony. From a child I was never very strong, and as I grew older my health became such that I was unable to attend school regularly. After I had suffered for years with my eyes, some of the best oculists were consulted. They pronounced my trouble astigmatism. Aside from eye trouble, later it became necessary to undergo three major surgical operations, which only made conditions worse. For two years I suffered from tuberculosis of the throat and was unable to use my voice to any extent. I am grateful that within two months after I took up the study of Christian Science all these difficulties were healed by the help of practitioners and my own diligent study of the Bible in connection with the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. To one who had for years been searching for health through all the avenues offered by materia medica, osteopathy, electric massage, climate, baths, rest-cure, and surgery, such a quick healing seemed marvelous.
More marvelous, however, has been the peace and contentment which the spiritualization of thought has brought. Instead of the dissatisfaction associated with my former religious beliefs, I am finding all of my questions answered by the new meaning of the Bible which the study of Christian Science gives. Instead of being unable to do things other girls do, I have been given strength to accomplish every duty that has come to me; and instead of being sad and despondent, I have been made happy and cheerful.
I am grateful indeed for class instruction and the privilege of attending my association each year; for the Christian Science literature; and for membership in a branch church and The Mother Church; and I am especially grateful for the friends Christian Science has given me, and for their loving help and encouragement.
