In March, 1922, I was attacked by an eye affection...

In March, 1922, I was attacked by an eye affection that was diagnosed by a practicing physician in San Francisco as ulcer of the eyeball. She said that the only treatment which any oculist could prescribe would be injections in the eye, and that recovery in any event would be very slow. She stated the case was serious from a medical point of view. At the time of this interview, I had been unable to use the eye for a couple of weeks, and had suffered considerable inconvenience. I felt relief at once after treatment was begun by a Christian Science practitioner. The ulcer itself became smaller in a few days; and, as I remember, it disappeared entirely in about two weeks. As it was required that I see a physician again before returning to work, I interviewed the same doctor after my recovery. She expressed great amazement at the speedy transformation, and said that such a result could have been secured under no form of medical treatment that she knew of.
