In the spring of 1916 I began seriously and prayerfully the study of Christian Science, and for some time simply devoured it. I have been healed of many cases of sickness, and am coming into the understanding of the absolute reality of the omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience of divine Mind. I have proved it in many instances without the assistance of a practitioner, and in others with loving help.
I was employed at the Knickerbocker Theater in this city at the time of the collapse of its roof. In connection with this experience, I was so wonderfully protected, and in so many ways, that I scarcely know how or where to begin telling of them. I heard the first crash. I realized what was happening, and spoke the truth; asked for help; closed my eyes, and waited. I realize that one protection from God was that at no time during that night was I unconscious. I was therefore able to successfully refuse, on no less than three occasions before I was removed from the building, the use of a hypodermic. My injuries were serious; and no one at the hospital had the slightest hope that I would recover. The spine was injured; and this was said to be the reason for the paralysis of nearly all the bodily organs. Preparations were completed for performing an operation, which the doctors thought would be my only chance; but a faithful Christian Science practitioner lovingly worked for me, with the result that I was not operated on. Through all the experience I felt no discouragement, irritation, or doubt, but knew I was being well cared for; and I realized more fully than before that divine Love is the only power and presence in the universe. After the fourth day I began to improve, and there was not a day from that time on that I was not better than the preceding day. The healing has been permanent, and I am in splendid condition.
I am more than grateful for the spiritual uplift received through the study and application of what I have learned in Christian Science; and I am striving day by day to develop right thinking and right living.
