Because healing is that part of Christian Science which is more particularly brought before the notice of the community, it is apt to be taken as the whole of Christian Science, whereas it is but an effect. At the same time it affords the proof of the truth of its teachings. When Euclid enunciated his elements of geometry in the propositions which go under his name, his examples were not the end of geometry. Christian Science is the Science which teaches the exact knowledge of God, and is based upon the teachings of Christ Jesus. Its practice results in the same healing which characterized his mission. Having proved the worth of this method of healing, many, in addition to professing Christian Scientists, prefer it to the materialistic methods of materia medica; but they have no quarrel with doctors, and have nothing but admiration for the unselfish work of the profession as a whole.
