I turned to Christian Science for healing, and I got it

I turned to Christian Science for healing, and I got it. At that time a specialist was treating me. He was the seventeenth doctor I had appealed to for aid in two years; and he was promising relief, as had all the rest. But no results came. I had been forced to leave college in the middle of the term, due to a nervous breakdown. This grew worse, accompanied by sleeplessness and indigestion, fainting spells and convulsions, and the return of symptoms diagnosed by a specialist as appendicitis. One day, after a faint, I found I could not talk plainly. After trying medicine and exercises and osteopathy for some weeks, I remembered the words of a neighbor, when she had called on me in one of my illnesses. She had said: "I think you're about ready for Christian Science. 'Man's extremity is God's opportunity,' you know." I did not know it then, but I do now; and I am so grateful that I had come to that extremity, and was ready to enter into the God-given dominion that had been waiting for me all the time.

Since the first experience I had with Christian Science I have never been bothered with any of the ills I spoke of. When I went to the practitioner I could scarcely say an intelligible word, my tongue was so paralyzed; and though the return to normal speech came slowly, still the change was so noticeable that others marveled at it. A so-called incurable eye trouble which had caused intense pain, and loss of sight for weeks at a time, with great fear of too much light and of total blindness, was healed in less than a month after taking up Science. Glasses, which were being changed more and more frequently to no avail, were laid aside. The nearest approach to anything like this eye trouble since I came into Science—a case of neuralgia of the eye, two years ago—was overcome in three months' treatment.

Those were my first healings. Since then I have had many more. Tonsillitis, burns, a sprained ankle, and influenza have been overcome; and I had an instantaneous healing, without a trace of pain, when a machine needle went completely through one of my fingers. Problems of loneliness when moving to a strange city, and of lack,—all have been beautifully solved, and have blessed me far beyond anything I could have planned for myself. I can never tell how grateful I am for Christian Science.
