I consider it a great privilege to acknowledge some of the blessings I have received through the study and application of Christian Science. After three years of miserable health, during which time I was continually under a physician's care, I decided to give Christian Science a trial. I had no faith in its healing power,—in fact was very prejudiced against what I thought it to be,—but as I had tried everything else, I decided at least to see what it could do for me.

At the time I took up Christian Science I was preparing to enter one of the large hospitals in a distant city to undergo whatever treatment the physicians deemed best to restore health; but as the trip was rather expensive, I gave Christian Science a trial first. I was suffering from extreme nervousness, stomach trouble of long standing, irregular heart action, and mental depression. My first healing seemed very slow, and at times I became very much discouraged; but all I had to do was to look back and remember how utterly hopeless things had seemed before, and then I was ready to press on again with renewed hope. I had previously experienced most distressing attacks with the heart after retiring, and had called the physician many times to attend me, with, however, no permanent relief. After taking Chrisstian Science treatment, this sense was entirely overcome within a few weeks. As soon as I began to see that God really is the only power, fear began to lessen, until I knew that God is All-in-all, and that there is really nothing to fear. For the knowledge of the allness and oneness of God, I am indeed grateful. This knowledge brings a peace that is beyond human understanding. As my understanding increased I manifested more harmony, until I was able to care for my home and family without the help of a servant. I began to take a new joy in my work, and life seemed more worth living than ever before.

I will mention a few of the many proofs we have had of God's loving care for His children. Our two children, a girl aged eight years and boy aged two and a half years, were both healed of scarlet fever within one week, without the usual after effects. One day the little girl stepped on a rusty nail. I treated her, as we are taught in Christian Science, and in two days she could wear her shoe as usual. She was also healed of bowel complaint, stomach trouble, ground itch, and a very bad sore on the toe. Our little son has never tasted medicine, and is a very robust little fellow.
