With a loving desire to share with others the blessings...

With a loving desire to share with others the blessings which have come to me through Christian Science, I want to express, as best I can, my gratitude to God, our Father; to Christ Jesus, our brother and loving Way-shower; to Mrs. Eddy, our revered Leader; and to the Christian Science practitioner whose work assisted me to a demonstrable knowledge of the wonderful activity of spiritual truth, which heals, sustains, and saves.

I came into Christian Science nearly six years ago. My wife had for many years been a frequent patron of hospitals and sanitariums. Her condition at times required my constant care, and seriously interfered with my business. Shortly before coming into Science I had severed my connection with my business, in order that I might devote to her my sole care. I was literally "down and out," and at an age when but few men ever "come back." A medical practitioner whom I had consulted advised me to get the invalid interested in Christian Science if possible, and stated it as his opinion that it might possibly benefit her. I lost no time in hunting up a Christian Science Reading Room, the first I had ever visited, where I got the names and addresses of several Christian Science practitioners. A practitioner whom I sought advised me to begin at once the study of Christian Science myself, so that I might aid in the work.

Without deeming myself one who needed a knowledge of Christian Science, I followed her direction, bought a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the first copy of the textbook that I had ever seen, began attendance at the Christian Science church, and attended regularly the Wednesday evening testimony meetings, all without thinking of myself. I have, however, been wonderfully blessed through God's loving-kindness that came to me with most wonderful and unmistakable distinctness. Among many physical healings were those of a tendency to frequent colds, sciatic rheumatism, and susceptibility to the effects of poison ivy, which had tormented me in my youth; and of a membranous condition that surgeons declared would require surgical operations at intervals during my life. I was healed of the tobacco habit, which had clung to me for more than twenty years. My financial affairs greatly improved. To enumerate all of the blessings since coming into Science would fill many pages of a diary covering nearly six years. To-day I am indeed a new man.
