The Lectures

EAGLE ROCK CITY, CALIF. (First Church).—Introducing Frank H. Leonard, a Christian Science lecturer, Charles P. Lowes spoke as follows:—

I was very much interested recently in reading an article in The Christian Science Monitor, that daily messenger of the world's good news, giving the account of the placing of the Majestic, the world's largest steamship, in dry dock. It seems that a great accumulation of sea growth had attached itself to her. Her owners did not become discouraged, for they knew that through the proper process of scraping and cleaning in dry dock, she would be restored again; and in a later issue of the Monitor I noticed that after tons of foreign growth had been removed from her, she became the world's fastest ship. This was very helpful to me, and reminded me of my experience in Christian Science; for I can remember the time when I was overburdened with an accumulation of fear, anxiety, doubt, and limitation, with no definite outlook into the future. But one happy day Christian Science came into my life, and I found that it had "turned for me my mourning into dancing." I found that a right understanding of God was displacing false beliefs, and to my great surprise many ills that I thought absolutely a part of me were disappearing. This continued until I was finally free. The world recognizes now that Christian Science heals all manner of disease and discord; and because it is doing so, in a little over half a century, churches and societies, branches of The Mother Church, have encircled the globe, so that on Sundays and Wednesdays there is continuous healing service throughout the world.
