ELMIRA, N. Y. (First Church).—The history of the church in Elmira is very interesting. The first public Christian Science service in Elmira was held in 1901. In 1902, the church was formally organized and incorporated under the laws of the State of New York. In 1909, a generous offer having been received of financial support toward the purchase of the present church property, the building was purchased, and in 1910 the congregation took possession. Since that time the activities of the church have been carried on, the membership showing a steady growth, and the influence of the church becoming more pronounced. Plans are being considered by the congregation to construct a larger church building, probably on the site of the present church.—Sunday Telegram.
