It is with a feeling of great pleasure and deep gratitude that we are able to state the fact of five healings of influenza through Christian Science treatment.

I was first taken ill, and called for help from a Christian Science practitioner, the healing being accomplished in two treatments, The fever and all other violent symptoms disappeared after the first treatment. Later, my wife and our three children were taken ill, and each case was healed through the understanding we have gained of Truth through our study of Christian Science. Thus, at a time when fear was rampant in the community and in the whole country, our entire family was held practically free from its evil effects; and it is for this freedom from the effects of fear, as well as for the healings, that we feel especially grateful.

During the past year, we have also had a very wonderful proof of the fact that distance offers no obstacle to the perfect working of God's law. Our vacation was being spent over two hundred miles from our home, and nearly forty miles from a railroad. The evening before we were to leave for home, one of our boys, twelve years of age, while running at top speed stumbled and fell headlong, with his full weight upon one arm, dislocating it so badly that the forearm, judged from its appearance, was pulled completely loose from the upper arm. I was a witness to the fall. As the child came running up, crying with pain and from fear, his arm dangling helplessly, I took hold of it, and with no conscious effort on my part the joint slipped back into place, the arm assuming a normal appearance. A doctor was stopping at the same place, with whom we had become acquainted during our stay. This gentleman, hearing some commotion and seeing the child taken quickly upstairs, followed at once, volunteering his services in such a way that we did not think we could refuse them. By this time the child was suffering severely, and the doctor pulled the arm up close to the body with the hand at the opposite shoulder in what seemed to be a most uncomfortable position, but one in which he said the arm should remain for some weeks, at the same time voicing the belief that a great deal of pain would be experienced during this period on account of the badly torn ligaments. We opposed all this with our affirmation of the truth and our mental denials. Just as soon as the room could be cleared, I began to read aloud from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and my wife called up a practitioner two hundred miles away. God's law was operating, as always, to prove that His Word is "quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two–edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart," for the telephone was quickly connected with that of the practitioner, and before my wife had come back from across the street, where the telephone was located, the lad said, "My arm feels much better now; it hardly hurts at all."
