With a deep sense of gratitude to God, to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and to Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, I send this testimony.

From my earliest girlhood I had suffered considerably from an internal trouble, which at times caused me intense pain accompanied by sickness, sometimes compelling me to remain in bed for a whole day. I tried many material remedies, but could find no relief, until at last I found a drug which seemed to alleviate the pain. Eventually my faith in this became so strong that I never would go from home without taking a bottle of it with me. In May, 1911, a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, was given to me by a friend, who told me that if I would read it, it would enable me to help one in our family who was in great need of physical healing; and with this desire in my thought I commenced to read. Before I had read half through the book, I found I was healed. I had always believed in the power of God, but Christian Science showed me that I was not putting my trust in His power, but in the power of a drug. When I realized that, I put the drug away from me; and from that day to this, now nearly eleven years, I have taken no material remedy of any description. All the pain and sickness disappeared. I was completely and permanently healed through the reading of the textbook.

Since this healing I have, through the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner, been healed of other discordant conditions. I have also been greatly helped in a time of family bereavement, when it was indeed proved to me that Christian Science is the Comforter. I feel most grateful, too, for the way divine Love protected and guided me through a time of great mental distress; and my gratitude goes out to those loving fellow Christian Scientists who helped me through these experiences.
