Christian Science is a religious system

Brainerd Tribune

Christian Science is a religious system. Its healing is dependent upon its theology. Its theology is based upon the omnipotence and omnipresence of the divine Mind or God, as opposed to any claim of power in the human mind, or mortal man, as the latter's expression. Christian Science heals by the power of God as manifested by Christ Jesus in his so-called miracles. Thus it offers to men a foundation for their faith and a strength and support that cannot possibly come from reliance upon the faculties of the so-called human mind. The ultimate of its expression is conformity with the apostle's admonition, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus."

In Christian Science the sick are healed through the manifestation of the Christ, and the healing is not only physical, but moral. The practice of Christian Science, instead of being an appeal to the imagination or the muttering of a formula, is an appeal to reason and faith lifted to spiritual understanding, through which man as the reflection of the perfect God appears as the perfect image and likeness. As Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 350), "To understand all our Master's sayings as recorded in the New Testament, sayings infinitely important, his followers must grow into that stature of manhood in Christ Jesus which enables them to interpret his spiritual meaning." Christian Scientists, to the best of their understanding, are following the Master's method, and hundreds of thousands can testify to its efficacy through the fruits which are the "signs following."
