Christian Science depends on God, Spirit, to heal sickness; and a Christian Science treatment consists of availing prayer to God, of the applied understanding of Him whom to know aright is health and harmony. Without doubt our fathers, leading more simple lives, living closer to God, having fewer diseases and fewer material remedies, fared better than do most people of to-day, when increased study of disease has increased the fear of disease and therefore the number of diseases, and has led experiment and vain imagination far afield in the search for healing by material means. The Bible tells us, "Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions." The Christian Science movement is a sign from heaven that we are weary of the husks of a far country and are turning back to our Father, God, "who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases."
