Christian Science heals all diseases, and at any stage; normally, healings should be instantaneous and permanent. Its healing power is available to all who seek. No one need doubt these statements who will read carefully verified testimonies published weekly and monthly in the periodicals of our church. There have been many well-authenticated cases of complete healing of those who were in "the valley of the shadow of death." In many instances these healings have been effected after the cases were pronounced hopeless by medical doctors. Christian Science is the practice and application of the laws of God, these being the laws by which Jesus healed. Why, then, should we not confidently anticipate the raising of the dead, since the Scriptures say, "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death"?

It is true that healing during and following the time of Jesus was frequently wrought through "certain individuals;" but this power was not restricted to "certain individuals." Jesus said, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also." The healings of the time of Jesus, and for about three hundred years thereafter (when the power was temporarily lost), and since the rediscovery of the healing truth by Mrs. Eddy, are amply explained by his statement that they should follow those who believed—knew God.

No objection can be properly taken to the remuneration of Christian Scientists for their healing work. The Scripture, "The labourer is worthy of his hire," supports the custom of asking and receiving reasonable compensation for work done in any department of right human activity. Did it not, our critic would be without authority for taking the remuneration which he admittedly receives. Those engaged in spiritual work, whether preacher or Christian Science practitioner, cannot be justly criticized for accepting a reasonable monetary reward for their services.
