[Written for the Sentinel]

Thanksgiving

Oh, lift thy voice to God in praise
For starlit nights and radiant days,
For harvest fields with bounty spread—
Earth's symbol of "our daily bread."

In gratitude for blessings given,
Uplift thy thought, and know that heav'n
Surrounds thee with its harmony
Of perfect love, protecting thee
From bondage to all earthly fear;
Thy Father-Mother God is near
To guard and guide thee, day by day,
If thou art willing to obey.

With thankful heart, then, lift thine eyes
And know that God thy need supplies;
His bounteous store of truth and love
Thy ever present help shall prove.
