Christian Scientists are trying to follow Christ Jesus in all his teachings. We recognize that one of the big missions of the Christ is to save us from sin, or rather to show us the way out of sin; but we also know that he commanded us to "heal the sick." Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." This certainly means, not only that we should be set free from sin, but also that we should be free from sickness, disease, and death, and all other fears, ailments, and discords that "flesh is heir to."

Christian Science affirms that God is infinite, that God is all, that God is spiritual, that God is Life, and Truth, and Love, as the Scriptures declare. We do not treat materiality. We do treat, and try to correct, our wrong thought or concept of man. We try to understand that man is made in the image and likeness of God, and not that God is made in the image and likeness of man. We try to spiritualize thought, but not to materialize God. By doing this, we come nearer to God, and enjoy that state of consciousness that Jesus referred to when he said, "The kingdom of God is within you."

Christian Science has no quarrel with any other religion or denomination. Jesus said, "By their fruits ye shall know them." The success of the Christian Science movement is due to the results that have followed the application of its teachings by hundreds of thousands that have come to it for relief from sin, sickness, disease,—discord of every kind. The successful demonstrations that have followed its application in these cases are the best evidences of the truth of its teachings. Jesus said, "Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake."
