The Christian Scientist's concept of God agrees perfectly...

The Christian Scientist's concept of God agrees perfectly with what Jesus said of himself, as the Son of God, and his relationship to God the Father. Christian Scientists accept the statements of Christ Jesus, who said, "God is a Spirit" (or as it may be translated, "God is Spirit"), and of the beloved John, who said, "God is love." We find nothing in the Bible or in the words of Christ Jesus which contradict these statements. Paul said, "In him [God] we live, and move, and have our being." Surely this is not the conception of a corporeal God or of Christ Jesus as God; and Christ Jesus himself declared he was the Son of God. Undoubtedly Christ Jesus is the best authority we have as to what he was; and he never maintained that he was God. He made it plain that he was not God.

Christ Jesus came to tell the world the good news about God, and to prove the ever-presence of this infinite God. The great mass of Christian Scientists are intelligent people; and they are not worshiping a strange God, but a God "who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases."

In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 473), Mrs. Eddy says: "In an age of ecclesiastical despotism, Jesus introduced the teaching and practice of Christianity, affording the proof of Christianity's truth and love; but to reach his example and to test its unerring Science according to his rule, healing sickness, sin, and death, a better understanding of God as divine Principle, Love, rather than personality or the man Jesus, is required."
