Had Christianity since Jesus' time fulfilled his law of Love, Christian Science would have been established prior to its discovery by Mary Baker Eddy. Those who were the custodians of the sacred covenant with Abraham have failed to bring to mankind the promised peace. It was a divine necessity, therefore, that Jesus should come to manifest the Christ. Since his coming, humanity, content with materiality and ignorant of God's law, has failed to apprehend him as "the way, the truth, and the life." Therefore, the unfoldment of Christian Science, its establishment as a universal religion for future ages, is the command of omnipotence. In the words of Ezekiel: "The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them."

The name Christian Science indicates that it is the Science or knowledge of Christianity, which begets only good, as it is based upon the divine. On the other hand, autosuggestion, being self-suggestion, is characteristic of certain mental conditions pertaining only to the human mind, in which the subject may suggest evil as well as good. It may be voluntary or involuntary, the involuntary being the most common, since it suggests fear, which tends to disturb the functioning of the organs of the body, thus resulting in disease. Psychoanalysis is a method for the purpose of discovering and exploring the unconscious human mind. It can readily be seen by any careful observer, or one who cares to investigate Christian Science, that there is no relation between these two systems and Christian Science, since Christian Science teaches the understanding of God, the infinite Mind, which, when understood, corrects and governs the individual. Christian Scientists accept only the omnipotence of God, as the Scriptures declare. Disease, being the absence of good, must be and is powerless, and all disease is error or a misunderstanding of the power of God, which misunderstanding has neither basis nor foundation.
