In a recent issue of your paper there appeared a report of two sermons delivered by a clergyman visiting your city. In the course of his remarks he drew a rather lugurious picture of world conditions to-day, and he also unfortunately misrepresented Christian Science, which offers a very satisfying solution for the perplexing problems that confront humanity. Christ Jesus made clear, as recorded in the twentyfourth chapter of Matthew's gospel, that durning the process whereby Truth destroys the errors of human belief, there would be troublous times. It is not difficult to see that" we are in the midst of these experiences now, but it is well to remember the note of encouragement which Christ Jesus ever sounded, assuring humanity of the certainty of gaining the right solution. This note of Christly encouragement is sounded in the sixth verse of the same chapter in these words: "See that ye be not troubled." It is important to keep this in mind while reading the description the Master gave of the phenomena attending his second coming —the reappearing of the Christ-idea as revealed in Christian Science.

Christian Science does not take the pessimistic view of things expressed by this clergyman, but it does adhere to and repeat the inspiring message of the Christ, "See that ye be not troubled." Christian Scientists recognize the need of coping with the perplexing problems that confront humanity to-day, and they are convinced that the remedy lies in the scientific application of the truth taught by Christ Jesus. The Christian Science Monitor, the daily newspaper of the Christian Science movement, is taking a firm stand in matters of far-reaching national and international import, and is greatly aiding in presenting a constructive solution for many of these problems. Its advocacy of right is obvious to the fair-minded observer, and this illustrates how the Christ-idea is operating to-day in a manner suited to the needs of the times.
