I would like to add my word of gratitude to the many...

I would like to add my word of gratitude to the many others, — gratitude to God for the truth which makes men free, and for the noble woman, Mary Baker Eddy, whose thought was pure and spiritual enough to behold the light which "shineth in darkness."

Although I did not take up the study of Christian Science for physical healing, but rather because early in life I had found, as the Hebrew preacher stated, that "vanity of vanities, . . . vanity of vanities; all is vanity," and I was mentally tired, still I have not been without the physical healings which Christian Science brings. One of the first healings I experienced was that of an uncomfortable skin disease. With the exception of the hands and face the body was entirely covered. At times sleep seemed impossible, and in the night watches I would open "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy and read until I would find relief. The aid of a Christian Science practitioner was at last asked; but not until many weeks had passed did the discordant condition disappear, and then it was gone before one realized the change. Although this healing was so long in coming, words cannot express the gratitude I feel for the light which dawned upon my thought as I sought Christ, Truth. Later in the same winter I was healed of throat trouble, which had bothered me from a child. Each winter tonsillitis would cause me a more or less unpleasant time for from two to six weeks. The second year in Christian Science found me in much the worst condition, as regards the throat, that I had ever experienced, and for ten days I was so weak I could hardly raise myself in bed. At the end of that time the trouble vanished. From then — five years ago — until now I have never suffered from the slightest sore throat. The trouble was entirely overcome.

I have had many other healings, some instantaneous and some of slower realization; but each and every one has brought added blessings. The spiritual uplift received while passing through what at the time seemed dark places has gradually brought the thought to a new way, and is slowly but surely purifying the desires of the heart.
