Many healings have come to me and mine through Christian Science, the first one being the removal of a prejudice which I had held in regard to this movement. This came to me as I listened for the first time to a Christian Science lecture, which I had been induced by a friend to attend. While I still felt unconvinced that such a system was really practical, I was conscious of a longing for what it promised. A few days later, I became aware that a condition of indigestion which had troubled me for years had not been present since I heard the lecture. Indeed, I have never experienced it since.

Shortly afterward, in one treatment from a practitioner, I was permanently healed of lumbago, which had long been a periodical trouble. This took place sixteen years ago. Since then, with the assistance of a practitioner in times of special stress, this truth, as taught by Mary Baker Eddy in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," has been the only physician in our home. Physically, financially, and spiritually, it has stood the test of trial, and left me each time with a more practical understanding.

About two years ago, I was healed of a severe attack of appendicitis. When the practitioner reached my bedside at about six o'clock in the morning, the pain was so great that I was almost unconscious. Relief came immediately, and in about twenty minutes I was quietly sleeping. Half an hour later I awakened to find the pain completely gone, and the soreness so much relieved that I was able to turn over. In the afternoon of that day I was up and about the house; and three days later resumed my work in the railroad shops.
