It is now more than twelve years since I turned to Christian Science
It is now more than twelve years since I turned to Christian Science. At that time I was a hopeless sufferer from a stricture of the rectum for which I had taken treatments from a doctor for twenty-three months, but was in worse condition than when we began. He then stated that he saw no remedy but a very radical operation. He was not sure it could be performed, but said he would call two other eminent surgeons and would try. I had always had a horror of operations, so told the doctor (who, by the way, had been very kind to me) that I would think it over. I came home very depressed. The next day I developed the grippe. I lay on my bed trying to decide whether I would send for the doctor or try Christian Science. I decided to have Christian Science treatment, and was restored in a very short time from the grippe; but the stricture did not go so quickly. But the understanding that I gained of God's law was worth all I suffered. I have relied on Christian Science in every way; and though sometimes the way would seem dark, I would hold to Principle, and things would come right, as they should.
My husband was cured of the liquor habit through realizing that God's child is not governed by false appetite. That healing took place more than ten years ago, and has remained permanent. I am striving to gain a better understanding of God's law, for through it we have all good. I am thankful to our Leader for showing us the way.
