In reply to the letter of a correspondent, appearing in a recent issue, I submit the following on the subject of Christian healing.

When Jesus sent the twelve to preach and heal, he instructed them to first learn of the worthiness of those they were to meet, and how to deport themselves with the unworthy, knowing they would encounter the unreceptive thought. The apostles did heal in keeping with Jesus' instructions, but not after the manner prescribed by the critic.

Jesus did not heal all with whom he came in contact, although he loved them dearly, but said of some of them, "He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them." The parable of the sower, as given in Matthew 13, Mark 4, and Luke 8, again elucidates the varying states of mind to be considered, according to Christ Jesus. In John, Jesus is recorded to have said, "Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out;" and the word "cometh" has a deep significance to those who turn from the world and are ready to seek healing through divine Love.
